A teacher in Boulder City has been arrested on charges of lewdness with a minor.

Police said Brett Storsved, 38, was a science and broadcasting teacher at Garrett Middle School. Storsved has been charged with six felony counts of lewdness with a child under the age of 14, as well as one gross misdemeanor count of open and gross lewdness.

Police said the incidents occurred at the middle school during the 2006 to 2007 school year and involved seven different female victims, ages 12 to 14.

"We were notified by the principal of a teacher who chest-bumped a female student," said Thomas Finn, Boulder City Police chief.

Police then launched an investigation into Storsved at the school. They said that more students came forward and talked of inappropriate actions with Storsved.

"There was no clothing removed. There was no touching underneath the clothing," said Finn. "Everything was through the clothing -- patting the students on the rear-end, kicking them in the ear-end, poking with his fingers on their stomach or waist."

Some students reported to police that Storsved touched their upper thighs and groin, but investigators said he did not solicit sex from any of them. They said Storsved contained all actions to the school day during the year.

Police arrested Storsved at his home Thursday morning, not far from the school where he teached. Neighbors are shaken, not realizing this could happen in their community.

"I hate to think it's true," said parent Shauna Scheppmann. "I grew up in Boulder City. I moved back because I wanted my kids to go to Boulder City schools, to be safer. I love this city. It hurts to hear something like that could have happened. I hope it's not true, but if it is I hope they take action against him."

Storsved is being held at the Clark County Detention Center and has a $21,000 bail.
