Condo Residents Lose View, Protest

Residents: Parking Garage Too Tall

Some residents of the upscale condo Turnberry Place are complaining that the casino going up next door will block their views.

Condo owners say a 22-story garage and convention center at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas site will ruin their balconies. But the developers of the $2.9 billion mega-resort said condo buyers were warned that the casino would be built and could affect their view of the Las Vegas Strip.

Residents took their complaints to Clark County commissioners during a zoning meeting last Wednesday. At the meeting, Fontainebleau representatives sought to increase the height of the garage from 175 feet to 230 feet.

Clark County Commissioners agreed to their demands.

Now the residents are taking their battle to District Court, seeking a temporary halt to construction.
