LAS VEGAS -- One of the men accused of being a member of a local white supremacist gang was in court Monday.Daniel Egan, alleged member of the Aryan Warriors, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and four counts of assault with a deadly weapon.Investigators said the gang is known as the Aryan Warriors and it directed violence and drug dealing from within Nevada state prisons. The charges stem from a several accusations against the gang, including the stabbing death of a prison inmate in August 2001, the assault of two other inmates in 2004 and 2005 and the February beating of a man outside the prison system. Additional charges against the men allegedly tied to the gang include: exortion, ID theft, illegal gambling and drugs possession.
Egan's friend Melanie Davidson and Kory Crossman's girlfriend attended the trial up together. Crossman is one of the 14 alleged gang members awaiting trial. Both of the women said reason Egan was smiling most of the time in court was that he thinks there's not enough evidence to convict in this case.Egan will join the rest of the accused Aryan Warriors for their trial, which is set to start Sept. 10.
