Nevada Gas Prices Among Most Expensive

Oil prices are down, but that has not spelled good news for Nevadans at the gas pump.

In fact, Nevada's gas prices now average about $2.56 per gallon -- a whopping 33 cents higher than the national average. State Sen. Bob Beers explained the discrepancy in prices, saying Nevada has the highest gas taxes in America. What's more, transportation costs exacerbate the problem because the nearest refinery is about 350 miles away.

Beers said he will attempt to ease the burden on residents with a proposal before the state legislature that would eliminate the gas tax.
