Shelley graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1997 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. In 2001, she earned a Masters Degree in Counseling specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, also from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

She is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and licensed alcohol & drug counselor. Over the past six years, she has practiced counseling with individuals, couples, families, and groups, with the first five years at a non-profit agency in the Las Vegas area and the last year after opening her own private practice.

Before counseling, she worked as a Child Development Specialist and Juvenile Service Assistant. She was also flown to New York City two weeks after the 911 tragedy to counsel those affected by the trauma.

Her approach to working with clients entails a gentle, kind, and respectful nature. She emphasizes acceptance, empathetic understanding, and genuineness.
