For the past eight years Kate Bennett has been one of the most recognized and respected entertainment journalists in Las Vegas. As both columnist for several publications, as well as featured broadcast news reporter and anchor, Bennett has made her mark on the city of entertainment.Bennett broke a number of stories and gained national attention as the gossip columnist for the Las Vegas Sun newspaper. She has been featured on several television and radio programs, including appearances on E! Entertainment Television, “Entertainment Tonight,” “The Howard Stern Show,” the Travel Channel and the Discovery Channel. She has also written columns for Las Vegas Life magazine and the Las Vegas Weekly.Bennett furthered her career as a broadcast journalist, landing a coveted position as Entertainment Reporter for KLAS-TV Channel 8 (CBS). In addition to regular segments on the nightly evening news covering all things entertainment, from red carpet events to one-on-one interviews with celebrities, Bennett was also selected to solo anchor the station’s 10pm newscast, “Eyewitness News at 10 on UPN” (KTUD-TV).In 2004 Bennett was awarded the Electronic Media Award for Best Specialty Reporting –Talent.
After three years in television, Bennett resigned her full-time job to focus on staying home with her new baby. Currently, Bennett is a freelance journalist, covering primarily lifestyle, fashion and entertainment. She is a regular contributor to VEGAS magazine, Wynn magazine, Las Vegas Home and Design magazine and Venetian Style magazine and a contributing editor for Las Vegas Life magazine.She also continues to make frequent appearances on both local and national television, most recently on the Style Network’s “Style Star: Las Vegas” special.Originally from Washington, D.C., Bennett graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. Prior to life in Las Vegas, Bennett was working in the world of politics in D.C., as an assistant producer for MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews.” She was also a contributor to George magazine. Bennett, along with her husband, Cab, and daughter, Tess, lives just a few miles from the Las Vegas Strip.
