Report: Rockies' Vizcaino Arrested On DUI

POSTED: 11:36 am PDT October 27, 2008

(Sports Network) - Colorado Rockies pitcher Luis Vizcaino reportedly was arrested in Tampa, Florida, early Monday morning for driving under the influence.

According to the Rocky Mountain News, Vizcaino was driving 71 mph when he was stopped by police. An officer noticed that the 34-year-old reliever had glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol. He then proceeded to fail a field sobriety test.

"We are continuing to monitor the situation and have been in contact with Luis and his representatives," the Rockies said in a statement. "We understand that they are working through the issues with local authorities and that Luis clearly understands the seriousness of the situation."

Vizcaino, who lives in St. Petersburg, went 1-2 with a 5.28 earned run average in 43 games for Colorado last season.
