Anaheim, CA -- Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Mike Napoli finished 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and scored three times as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim rallied from an early four-run deficit to out-slug the New York Yankees, 14-8, in the middle test of a three-game set. Bobby Abreu also drove in three runs for the Angels, who have taken the first two games in the series and four of six. Brandon Wood hit a two-run homer, while Gary Matthews, Jr, Kendry Morales and Howie Kendrick also knocked in two runs apiece for LA, which pounded out 16 hits for the win. Jered Weaver (10-3) allowed four hits and four runs -- three earned -- with nine strikeouts and two walks over six innings for the victory. Alex Rodriguez hit a pair of home runs -- including his 570th career blast which elevated him to 10th on the all-time list -- and drove in three for the Yankees, who entered the series with a three-game winning streak and have surrendered 24 runs over the last two games. Eric Hinske also homered twice and Hideki Matsui added a solo shot. Andy Pettitte (8-5) was rocked in the loss for seven hits and six runs in just 4 1/3 innings.Final Score: Oakland 7, Tampa Bay 2 St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Rajai Davis and Adam Kennedy hit two-run homers in the pivotal seventh inning, as Oakland staged a late rally to top Tampa Bay, 7-2, in the second of three contests from Tropicana Field. Orlando Cabrera finished 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Athletics, who snapped a three- game losing streak. Dallas Braden (7-7) got the win by scattering five hits and two runs with six strikeouts over six innings. Ben Zobrist and Gabe Kapler knocked in a run each for the Rays, who saw their four-game win streak halted. Matt Garza (6-7) was tagged in the loss for seven hits and three runs despite fanning seven with only one walk through 6 1/3 frames. Final Score: Cleveland 5, Detroit 4 Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Carl Pavano worked eight solid innings and Cleveland took a 5-4 decision from Detroit in the second of a three-game weekend set between theses AL Central foes. Travis Hafner had two hits, including a two-run single, while Jhonny Peralta, Victor Martinez and Asdrubal Cabrera also knocked in runs for the Tribe, who came in losers in four of five. Pavano (8-7), who snapped a four-game winless streak his last time out, struck out six without walking a batter and scattered seven hits and two runs. The veteran right-hander has allowed two runs or less in each of his last three starts. Kerry Wood earned his 12th save of the year despite allowing the Tigers to get within one on a two-run homer in the ninth. Armando Galarraga (5-8) gave up nine hits and four runs over six-plus innings for the Tigers, walking two and fanning three. He had put together two consecutive quality starts after struggling mightily over a two-month stretch. Miguel Cabrera cracked the two-run homer in the ninth to make it a one-run affair while Ryan Raburn and Brandon Inge drove in the other runs for Detroit, which had a three-game win streak broken. Final Score: Baltimore 4, Toronto 3 (12 innings) Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Melvin Mora hit his first homer in more than two months, clubbing a solo shot in the 12th inning, as the Baltimore Orioles edged the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-3, in the middle test of a three-game set from Camden Yards. Luke Scott also slugged a solo home run for the Orioles, who have won three of their last four games. Aubrey Huff and Matt Wieters drove in a run each in the win. Mark Hendrickson (5-4) got the win after tossing a scoreless 12th inning. Jesse Carlson (1-4) was tagged with the loss. Marco Scutaro and Aaron Hill both had two hits and an RBI for the Blue Jays, who have dropped 11 of their last 14 games. Scott Rolen drove in the other run in defeat. Baltimore's Rich Hill went six-plus innings and gave up two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts to just one walk. Ricky Romero was tagged for three runs on seven hits in eight innings for the Blue Jays. Final Score: Boston 15, Kansas City 9 Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Kevin Youkilis finished 3-for-4 with a pair of homers, four RBI and scored four times as Boston nearly blew a nine-run lead but downed Kansas City, 15-9, in the third of four from Fenway Park. David Ortiz hit a two-run homer and Nick Green also knocked in a pair of runs for the Red Sox, who have won four of five including two of three in this series. John Smoltz (1-2) earned his first win in a Boston uniform, going five innings while scattering four hits and one run with seven strikeouts. Billy Butler had three hits and drove in three runs for the Royals, who lost for the fourth time in five games. Jose Guillen and Mike Jacobs each homered and knocked in two runs in defeat. Gil Meche (4-9) took the loss, charged with six hits and eight runs -- six earned -- over 3 2/3 innings before leaving the contest. He was later diagnosed with back spasms in his lower left side. Final Score: Chicago 8, Minnesota 7 Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Jim Thome drove in four runs and Gordon Beckham went 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored, as the Chicago White Sox hung on for an 8-7 victory over the Minnesota Twins in the middle installment of a three-game set between these AL Central foes. Brian Anderson went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the White Sox, who beat the Twins in Minnesota for the first time since July 30, 2008. Scott Podsednik and Paul Konerko each knocked in a run. Gavin Floyd (7-6) went 7 2/3 frames, allowing five runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts to collect the win for Chicago. Bobby Jenks gave up two runs -- one earned -- in the ninth but was able to hold on for his 20th save of the year. Joe Crede hit a three-run home run and a solo homer for the Twins, who won, 6-4, in the series opener on Friday. Jose Morales stroked a two-run single, while Joe Mauer drove in the other run in defeat. Glen Perkins (4-5) lasted just 4 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on eight hits with a pair of walks and a strikeout to take the loss. Final Score: Seattle 4, Texas 1 Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Rob Johnson hit his second career homer, a go- ahead two-run shot in the seventh inning, boosting the Mariners to a 4-1 win over the Texas Rangers. Jack Hannahan, acquired in a trade from Oakland earlier Saturday, doubled and scored in the seventh inning, as Seattle took the third installment of the four-game series. Russell Branyan also homered. Jarrod Washburn (6-6) threw seven strong innings to win his second straight start. Coming off a one-hit shutout against Baltimore, the southpaw limited the Rangers to four hits and a run, walking two and striking out three. Kevin Millwood (8-7) surrendered six hits and four runs over six-plus frames to suffer the loss. Ian Kinsler drove in the lone run for Texas, which has lost two of three and dropped a half-game behind the Angels for first place in the AL West. The Rangers lost for just the third time in 11 games.
