Dodgers Send Kershaw To Minors, But Only Briefly

POSTED: 5:06 pm PDT August 29, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned pitcher Clayton Kershaw to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday and purchased the contract of pitcher Scott Elbert from Double-A Jacksonville.

The 20-year-old Kershaw has been a highly regarded prospect for Los Angeles and has compiled a 2-5 record with a 4.56 earned-run average in two stints with the big club this season.

Kershaw allowed five runs while recording just seven outs in the Dodgers' loss to the Nationals on Thursday, but he is not scheduled to miss his start in the rotation on Tuesday against the Padres.

Elbert, 23, went 4-1 with a 2.40 ERA in 25 games with Jacksonville.
