Rays Closer Percival Returns From DL

POSTED: 10:23 am PDT July 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays activated closer Troy Percival from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.

Percival had been sidelined since July 1 with a left hamstring strain. The right-hander was on the shelf earlier this season with the same ailment.

He is 1-0 with a 3.54 earned run average and has converted 19 of 21 save opportunities over 29 appearances.

Percival has a career record of 34-41 with a 3.05 ERA and ranks ninth on the All-Time saves list with 343.

To make room on the roster for Percival, the team placed reliever Gary Glover on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 11, with a left calf strain.
