KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Whiteman Air Force Base officials said its 509th Bomb Wing has received several C-17 cargo planes from Charleston, S.C., because of Tropical Storm Hanna.Eight C-17 Globemaster IIIs and their aircrews, maintenance and security personnel were evacuated from Charleston Air Force Base to Whiteman.The planes are worth $200 million each. They are used for airlift missions around the world.
