UMC Retains Transplants, Loses Cancer Service

NCI To Stop Oncology Services By January

While it may have gotten a reprieve for its kidney transplant program, University Medical Center will potentially lose its cancer services before 2009.

The Nevada Cancer Institute said it'll quit handling oncology services at the county-run hospital in Las Vegas after Dec. 31.

That leaves doubt about where uninsured cancer patients will go for outpatient care.

Hospital officials have not issued a statement about NCI's decision.
