Get Help With Cancer, Sickle Cell

Two Valley businesses seek to help those dealing with cancer and sickle cell anemia.

The Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada offer weekly classes for those dealing with cancer. Their offices can be found at Peak Drive and Eastern Avenue.

Every Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Peak location, group counselors help those people dealing with the devastating effects of cancer. The same support group meets at 6 p.m. Thursdays at the Eastern location.

Every third Wednesday, beauty experts help those women transition into their treatment with cancer by offering makeup and wig tips, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

For more information on any of the center's services, call 702-952-3400 or 702-952-2140.

The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation offers monthly classes for children dealing with sickle cell anemia.

Every third Wednesday allows children with sickle cell anemia an opportunity to deal with their condition through community support. The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation meets with children and their families from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at its 6070 South Eastern Avenue, Suite 200 office. For more information, contact the Foundation at 702-735-8434.
